Mission Statement: As members of Siloam United Church, we seek to be Christ to each other and God’s world.
A New Creed – The United Church of Canada
We are not alone,
we live in God’s world.
We believe in God:
who has created and is creating,
who has come in Jesus,
the Word made flesh,
to reconcile and make new,
who works in us and others
by the Spirit.
We trust in God.
We are called to be the Church:
to celebrate God’s presence,
to live with respect in Creation,
to love and serve others,
to seek justice and resist evil,
to proclaim Jesus, crucified and risen,
our judge and our hope.
In life, in death, in life beyond death,
God is with us.
We are not alone.
Thanks be to God.
In June of 2023, Siloam officially received designation as an Affirming Ministry in London.
As followers of Jesus and his message of love, inclusion, and justice, we affirm and celebrate the qualities, characteristics, and gifts of every human being including their age, race, ethnicity, gender identification, sexual orientation, abilities, marital status, family configuration, socioeconomic condition, and life experience.
As an Affirming Community of Faith, we believe everyone is a child of God and all God’s children belong. In fact, our church community is enriched by every person who becomes part of our community, and diversity is truly a blessing to celebrate.

2017 Amalgamation – Arva & Siloam
On June 25, 2017, Arva United Church and Siloam United Church amalgamated to become Siloam United Church at 1240 Fanshawe Road East in London, Ontario.
Like Siloam, Arva also has a long history of ministry in the area dating back to 1857. The amalgamation will sustain both ministries as they continue the legacy of their founders.
Rose Birrell Women's Group

For more than 140 years, the women of Siloam have been an active social and service group, hosting events and raising funds to help support the life and work of the church, and contributing to outreach initiatives in the wider community.
1884 was the first women’s group at Siloam. In 1916 it became known as the United Church Women (UCW).
In the early 1900’s, the UCW hosted garden parties, box socials and potluck suppers, which paid for redecorating and coal for the church, items for the church kitchen, hymn books, and a new stop sign at Highbury and Fanshawe. They sent a quilt to victims of the 1937 London flood as well as donations to 1949 flood relief efforts in Winnipeg.
In 1989, the UCW was renamed “The Rose Birrell Women’s Group” after the passing of Rose May Birrell.
Through amalgamations in the early 2000’s, they welcomed members from Gethsemane United Church, Arva United Church, and Birr United Church.
The group currently has a membership of 28 women. They fundraise through the annual Santa Shoppe bazaar, Ham and Scalloped Potato Supper, Luncheons, Receptions, and our quilting group.

These funds generously support the work and life of Siloam as well as local outreach charities.
They meet in the Library Chapel the first Thursday of every month at 1pm from September to June for tea and treats, followed by a programme with a speaker or an activity, a worship, and a business meeting.

“We are grateful to the many members of the congregation who help us with our projects.”
All women are welcome. To find out more about upcoming Rose Birrell events, contact the church office.
