CALL TO WORSHIP (responsive) Jen Prince
One: I invite you to continue the journey of Lent.
ALL: What do we need to experience on this journey?
One: We need to experience that it is only in weakness that we can find true power.
ALL: At first that makes no sense at all
One: But it makes sense to those who have come to know that One who walked the road to crucifixion and was granted New Life!
ALL: Let us walk that hard road as we seek God’s will of true power coming from weakness. Let us light our second purple candle to symbolize that our journey continues.
LENTEN CANDLE LIGHTING (a second purple candle is lit)
All remain seated and sing “Throughout These Lenten Days & Nights”:
The pilgrim Christ, the Lamb of God,
who found in weakness greater power,
embraces us, though lost and flawed,
and leads us to his Rising Hour.
OPENING PRAYER (unison) Jen Prince
Gracious and glorious Lord, we come, as did Nicodemus, with questions on our hearts and in our lives. We come hoping someone can help us find answers and healing. But we are also hardened with doubts about self, others, and even you. Grant us healing and openness to your spirit that we may be better servants of your Word, your Will, and your Way. In Jesus’ Name, we pray. AMEN.
