SILOAM UNITED CHURCH
Sunday, March 15th, 2020
Third Sunday in Lent
Seasonal Colour – Purple
WE GATHER IN GOD’S LOVE

We acknowledge that we meet on land once inhabited
by our indigenous brothers and sisters.

GATHERING SONGS David Parisi

OPENING WORSHIP SONG
“Let Us Build a House”

WORDS OF WELCOME Jen Prince

LIFE AND WORK OF THE CHURCH

CALL TO WORSHIP (responsive) Rev. Ann Corbet
One: Turn away from the calls of worldly success
ALL: Awaken, and turn back to God.
One: Turn away from the desire to have what everyone else has
ALL: Awaken, and turn back to God.
One: Turn away from greed and the race for power
ALL: Awaken, and turn back to God.
One: As we enter Lent, may we turn back to God
ALL: May we seek forgiveness, may we seek healing, may we seek wholeness. May our hearts be renewed in this time of worship.

TERRITORY ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

LENTEN CANDLE LIGHTING (a third purple candle is lit)
All remain seated and sing “Throughout These Lenten Days & Nights”:
Throughout these Lenten days and nights
we turn to walk the inward way,
where, meting Christ, our guide and light,
we live in hope till Easter Day.

We bear the silence, cross and pain
of human burdens, human strife,
while sisters, brothers help sustain
our courage till the Feast of Life.

OPENING PRAYER Jen Prince

PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE Rev. Ann Corbet

SUNG LORD’S PRAYER

COMMISSIONING & BENEDICTION

SUNG RESPONSE: “Go Out and Serve Him”
Filled with the Spirit, filled with God’s grace,
Filled with the friendship we find in this place;
Called as disciples, go now in faith.
Jesus will show the way.
Go out and serve Him, serve Him
Carry His Word into all of the world.
Go and serve Him, serve Him.
Go out and serve our Lord.
Go serve our Lord.
