WORDS OF WELCOME Jen Prince

CALL TO WORSHIP (responsive) Jen Prince
One: I invite you to the journey of Lent.
ALL: Where does the journey take us?
One: The journey takes us within ourselves so that we may live in our world in a new way.
ALL: We are afraid to go there.
One: We do not need to be afraid, for we will be strengthened by the Spirit of God, and God has promised never to leave us nor forsake us.
ALL: Even though we are afraid, we will journey on. God is with us. Amen!

THE LIGHTING OF THE CHRIST CANDLE All remain seated and sing “Throughout These Lenten Days & Nights”:
Throughout these Lenten days and nights
we turn to walk the inward way,
where, meeting Christ, our guide and light,
we live in hope till Easter Day.

PRAYER OF DEDICATION (responsive): Rev. Ann Corbet
ONE: God of the wilderness, we give these offerings in gratitude,
ALL: rejoicing in the abundance of your gifts to us.
ONE: We give these offerings in faith,
ALL: trusting that you will provide for our needs.
ONE: We give these offerings in hope,
ALL: knowing you can use them to spread your love in this world.
ONE: And with these offerings, we give ourselves;
ALL: May we live with generous hearts, with open hands. Amen

COMMISSIONING & BLESSING
SUNG RESPONSE: “Go Now in Peace”
Go now in peace. Never be afraid.
God will go with you each hour of ev’ry day.
Go now in faith, steadfast, strong and true.
Know He will guide you in all you do.
Go now in love, and show you believe.
Reach out to others so all the world can see.
God will be there watching from above.
