CALL TO WORSHIP & ADVENT CANDLE LIGHTING:
The McClary Family
ONE: Furrows, be glad. Though earth is bare,
ALL: one more seed is planted there:
ONE: give up your strength the seed to nourish,
ALL: that in course the flower may flourish.
ONE: Light the candle and sing today:
ALL: peace the rose is on the way.
CANDLE LIGHTING: All remain seated and sing, “A Candle is Burning”, #6 VU, verse 2:
A candle is burning, a candle of peace,
a candle to signal that conflict must cease:
for Jesus is coming to show us the way;
a message of peace humbly laid in the hay.
OPENING PRAYER (unison): Rev. Janet Fradette
We live in a world where peace seems like a distant dream, O God. We pray not just for the absence of violence and conflict, but for the deep peace of knowing and trusting your way. As the darkness and cold of December set in, we trust that the light and the warmth of your Holy Spirit will enfold us and remind us of the shalom that is to come and the shalom that is already within us. We pray in the name of Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace. Amen.
HYMN: “Hark the Glad Sound” #29 VU
(Children, please come forward during the final verse.)

THE OFFERING OF GRATITUDE & PLEDGE CARDS
OFFERTORY HYMN: #543 VU
We give thee but thine own, what e'er the gift may be;
all that we have is thine alone, a trust, O God, from thee.
PRAYER OF DEDICATION (unison):
Gracious and loving God, giver of all that is good, true, beautiful and life-giving. These cards represent our being Christ to each other, as they represent our lives, the things about Siloam for which we are most grateful, and they represent our dreams. The pledges which we make are but tokens of the awesome gifts that have been given to us and they are pledged in thanksgiving for all we have received, for all we have been inspired to be, for all we are challenged to become, in this place. They are our way to say ‘thank you’, Loving God. Bless them and use us and them in your service. Amen.
(Children leave for Sunday School,
singing #884 VU “You Shall Go Out With Joy”.)

PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE Rev. Janet Fradette
Jesus said: “I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete.” John 15:11
OFFERTORY HYMN: “What Child Is This?” #74 VU
So bring him incense, gold, and myrrh;
come, one and all, to own him.
The King of Kings salvation brings;
let loving hearts enthrone him.
This, this is Christ the King,
whom shepherds guard and angels sing;
haste, haste to bring him laud,
the Babe, the Son of Mary!
PRAYER OF DEDICATION (unison):
God, our provider, your Word creates our life and strength. Everything we have is a gift from your open hand. Guide us by your Spirit to be diligent and faithful stewards of all that you entrust to our care. May we not bury our gifts or fearfully hoard resources. Fill our hearts with trust, so that we can experience your joy in giving. May our congregation show your generosity through our mission to the wider community and the world. We ask this for the sake of Jesus Christ. Amen.

SUNG RESPONSE: “Now Thank We All Our God” #236 VU
Now thank we all our God, with heart, and hands, and voices,
who wondrous things has done, in whom this world rejoices;
who from our mother’s arms has blessed us on our way
with countless gifts of love, and still is ours today.

COMMISSIONING AND BENEDICTION
SUNG RESPONSE: “Go Out and Serve Him”
Filled with the Spirit, filled with God’s grace,
Filled with the friendship we find in this place;
Called as disciples, go now in faith.
Jesus will show the way.
Go out and serve Him, serve Him
Carry His Word into all of the world.
Go and serve Him, serve Him.
Go out and serve our Lord.
Go serve our Lord.
